Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Canada’s single-use plastic (SUP) ban timeline to eliminate the import and sale of SUPs by 2030.

Canada throws away three million tonnes of plastic waste each year, resulting in litter, air pollution from incinerators, and adding to landfills.

Trudeau has made a plan to eliminate six categories of SUPs in Canada, including cutlery, foodservice ware, straws, stir sticks, checkout bags, and ring carriers.

Here is a timeline of Trudeau’s goal for Canada on reducing plastic pollution in the country.
