As Reading Week is soon approaching many Humber College students say they are excited to take time away from school and reset before midterm exams.
Ann Ravina, second year Bio Technology student, told Humber News she has a fast paced lifestyle, whether it would be her academic life at Humber or her social life, so she wants to use this Reading Week as a time to catch up with family.
“My plan for Reading Week is to step back a little bit from my studies because this semester has been tough, and I think it’s been the toughest amongst all semesters that I’ve been in,” Ravina said.
She told Humber News the week will see time allotted for her family and friends, however, she will still be working towards finishing assignments and lab reports when coming back from her break.
Humber College’s Reading Week starts Feb. 27 and ends Mar. 3.
Some Humber Students like Thesandi Senarathne said they are looking forward to studying.

Senarathne, a first-year Civil Engineering Technology student, told Humber News that she has no time to waste during this reading week as midterm exams are right after the break.
While she plans to study for the majority of the week, she said she also has plans to hang out with friends.
“I’m planning to go out with some friends and have some fun,” Senarathne said.
Thiti Klinpon, a first year Computer Programming student, is also in the midst of studying for mid term exams that are approaching after the break. He said his priorities are clear.

“To study, that’s the first thing, the second thing is to clear my mind and exercise,” Klinpon said.
Other students said they are looking forward to catching up on the sleep they have been lacking during the semester.
Moeez Shaikh, a first year Computer Programming student, told Humber News that he would be taking Reading Week as a time to rest from all of the coding he’s been doing all semester.

“I’m going to chill at home, that’s it,” Shaikh said. “I’m also working right now, and I’m going to ask for some time off,” he said.
Celena Reid, a first-year Pharmacy technician student, also told Humber News she has midterms to study for during the Reading Week, however, she will also be taking the week to catch up on sleep.

“I’m studying. We have three assessments to do after Reading Week so I’m going to be studying for those,” Reid said.
Other Humber students said they are using the break to reorganize themselves and to be prepared for the duration of the rest of the semester.
Chalisa Bahapur, a first-year Massage Therapy student, told Humber News that she will be connecting with her friends for a study session but she will also connect with her family.

“Catch up on things that I missed. Make sure that my notes for the test, like the mid-term that we’ve done, are good for the future. And just relax, I guess,” Bahapu said.
“My friends and I are having a study session, even though all my mid-terms will be done. We’ll just get together and spend some time together.”
While some students are in the Greater Toronto Area for the break, other students will be travelling and enjoying their Reading Week in the United Kingdom.
Richa Daryaannani, a final year Fashion Arts and Business student, said she will be on a plane in two days to see her boyfriend.

“I’m so excited, I can’t even concentrate on my exams. I’m leaving in two days,” Daryaannani said.
There will be no online or in-person classes at Humber College North Campus during Feb. 27 to Mar. 3.
