As students and staff wrap up classes this week, there will definitely be campus services open to them during next week’s Reading Week from Feb. 28 – March 8.

For Reading Week, services such as food, libraries and athletics are taken into consideration, especially for students living in the campus’s residences.

Alex Hoa, assistant manager of Cafe Linx and Retail Services told Humber News on Wednesday that most food services at the North campus will be open next week.

“In terms of Reading Week, what we will have open is just reduced hours of all of our services that are currently open,” she said.

Hoa also explained the exact timings for North’s food services.

The residents’ cafeteria is open 10 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday. By March 5 and 6, it will be open during its regular hours of 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Street Cafe and Ackee Tree Caribbean Restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Starbucks will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Trades Cafe will be the only North food service to be closed.

However, Hoa says that each food service will also be open by March 7 as students return to campus for in-person learning.

“All of these operations will be open, and with extended hours,” she said.

“We’re opening very cautiously, just to make sure that we can open spaces successfully, and make sure that they succeed so that we don’t have to close it down.”

It’s also worth noting that Humber Athletics will also be open during Reading Week at its normal hours.

However, North’s library and Learning Commons will not be open. However, they will still offer online services on their website at library.humber.ca.
