The wait is over.
Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a boy, her third child and second son with husband Prince William.
The newest prince in the family, who was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London, is fifth in line to the throne and the Queen’s sixth great-grandchild.
A Kensington Palace statement said Kate and her newborn son, who is yet to be named, are both doing well.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.
The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.
