Today marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.
Fifty years ago today, on April 4 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was shot to death on a motel balcony in Memphis, Tennessee.
The National Civil Rights Museum, which was built within the Lorraine Motel where King died, plans on hosting an all-day gathering with storytelling and other events to honour King.
