Mohammed Morsi was sentenced on Tuesday to 20 years in prison, nearly three years after he became elected president after the Egyptian Revolution 2011. He was the country’s first freely elected president.

The sentence comes as a result of protestors dying during a demonstration in 2012 under Morsi’s rule.
