The price of regular gasoline is expected to hit $1.98.9 per litre tomorrow.
Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy and former MP for Pickering-Scarborough East, said he predicts premium gasoline and diesel will hover at $2.28.9 per litre.
McTeague operates GasWizard.ca, a website that offers price predictions to drivers within a two to three-day notice.
The president of Canadians for Affordable Energy said he expects however that the price of a litre of regular gasoline could reach $2.25 a litre this summer.
Statistics Canada reported that Canada’s inflation rate jumped to 7.7 per cent, the highest it has been in 40 years.
Last year at this time gas was $1.29 per litre.
