With Ontario’s next general election less than two months away, candidates for all parties are sharing with Ontarians their vision for the future.

While the COVID-19 pandemic may make for unprecedented times, Ontario has had provincial elections for well over a century.

The Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario was founded in 1854, with the Ontario Liberal Party shortly behind in 1857. Despite some name changes and brief coalitions with other parties, the battles to form government have primarily been between the PCs and the Liberals.

With Ontario’s next provincial election less than two months away, it is important to look back at how Ontario got to where it is now.
