Humber College will open a vaccine clinic at its North campus on April 14, expanding access to vaccines in Osler’s Etobicoke catchment area.

The clinic will be located in the University of Guelph-Humber (UofGH) building at Humber College, in the Highway 27 and Humber College Boulevard area.

The initiative, taken in partnership with the William Osler Health System (Osler), will convert the current Etobicoke COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic to the Osler-Humber College COVID-19 vaccine clinic.

All appointments booked on or after April 14 will automatically be moved over to the Main Lobby at the UGH.

Osler will oversee the clinic and offer an opportunity for students in Humber’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness to get clinical experience.

Students will be administering vaccines, while simultaneously gaining required work-integrated learning experience for their programs.

Tyler Charlebois, the manager of Strategic Partnerships at Humber College, told Humber News the initiative hopes to support community vaccination.

“It is a community clinic so it’s just like all of the other clinics across the city and across the province for vaccinations,” he said.

The clinic will administer vaccines based on appointments only through Osler’s website or by calling 905-494-6685, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week.

“All those who have been identified as part of the provincial government’s vaccine distribution plan, as well as those identified by the public health unit, are eligible to get vaccines here,” Charlebois said.

For the four-month period of the clinic’s operations, only Vaccine Clinic staff, volunteers, and those with confirmed vaccine appointments will be permitted to use the front doors at UGH and Lot 1 for parking.

“The clinic will operate from April 14 till about Aug. 14. Obviously, we’ll have to take it down to get ready for the fall semester,” Charlebois said.
