Timeline: Canada’s response to COVID-19

The Canadian government has announced several COVID-19 economic response programs over the past few weeks to support individuals and businesses.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses the nation almost every day to ensure the safety of its people and provide financial aid when needed.

“Canadians want to know that their jobs are protected, and their families are safe and healthy. That’s why we’re stepping up to provide the support that will keep workers on the payroll, protect middle-class jobs, and help Canadians recover quickly once we make it through these difficult times,” he said in a press conference on May 20, 2020.

The various programs announced by the federal government in response to the pandemic are outlined below:
