More than 400 students explored Humber College’s annual Pathways Fair on Jan. 22 to explore options related to their future studies.
The fair at the college’s North campus offered students the chance to learn about diploma, degree and graduate-certificate programs at Humber, as well as opportunities to study abroad with its 30-plus post-secondary partner institutions.
“Humber has been organizing educational fairs for more than 25 years,” said Judy Tavares, manager of student transfer services at Humber.
Humber partners with post-secondary institutes across Ontario and abroad, including York University, Algonquin College, Griffith University in Australia and Robert Gordon University in Scotland.
Representatives from each school operated booths at the fair to answer questions from curious students.
“This is a dual pathway fair,” Tavares said. “Students can choose programs from Humber as well as other institutions.”
Minahal Jaffer, a Humber student who has an interest in design, said she feels she found many of her answers about her plans after attending the fair.
Prior to the fair, Jaffer was confused about her program and where her credits could be applied or transferred, but she left with a greater understanding of her options.
“When I saw the representatives and booths of different colleges, my doubts were cleared,” she said.
Martin Kelly, executive director of KOM Consultants, who are the Canadian representatives for Humber’s partner institutes in Ireland, the U.K. and Australia, said there are many education options available to Canadian students wishing to study abroad.
“Many colleges provide online and in-class programs to international students, and scholarships for students according to their grades,” Kelly said.
