Students put down their books and laced up their shoes to part take in Humber’s annual 14th Fun Run/Walk to raise money for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Runners have shared their personal stories on why they are running today, marketing coordinator Carlos Rivera said.

“I think it’s super important because it can affect anyone and there’s a lot of people who are affected by it,” he said. “Doing events like this [helps] bring awareness, and have open discussions.”

Program professor Debra Basch said last year there was only 200 runners but they still raised $800.

“We ask for a minimum two dollar donation and we find that most people are throwing in fours … and fives and twenties, and when they know its for a good cause, they’re very generous with their donations and their time,” she said.
