The federal carbon tax is set to kick in on Monday morning.

Residents of Ontario, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan will be paying more for gasoline and home heating and will get their money back when they file their federal income tax returns.

The tax was imposed because all four provinces declined to participate in the federal government’s carbon plan to fight climate change.
