The RCMP  arrested two people in Kingston in a terrorism investigation on Friday.

A youth has been charged with knowingly facilitating a terrorist activity and counselling a person to place or detonate an explosive.

No further details will be provided under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The second individual was released without charge.

The RCMP received information in December 2018 about a potential terrorist activity. They immediately launched the investigation that led to the arrests.

The RCMP say there is currently no threat to the public.

The investigation was assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kingston Police, Ontario Police, Canadian Border Services Agency and Canadian Security Agency.
