It was quite a shocking morning for students at the University of Toronto when a professor accidentally played porn in class.

The incident happened at the U of T’s Scarborough campus during a morning psychology lecture about Biological and Cognitive Psychology.

A student snapchatted and tweeted a video showing students laughing and screaming as the projector screened a man and woman in a pornographic clip.

“First psychology class… wtf… prof was watching porn before this,” reads a caption on the video, which was originally posted to Snapchat.

Students on social media suggested that the professor concerned as Dr. Steve Joordens who is very popular as a teacher and an award-winning scientist. He also has his own Wikipedia page.

Dr. Joordens started teaching at UTSC in 1995. Since he has won several awards including the Canadian Post-Secondary #EdTech Professor of the Year in 2017 and the 3M National Teaching Fellowship in 2015.

Don Campbell, Media Relations Officer at UTSC told Humber News they were looking into the matter and couldn’t comment at the moment.

While several students walked out of the class in embarrassment, Twitter was filled with tweets from students who thought is was a genuine mistake and only an accident.

Since it was a psychology class, one hopes it may have been an experiment of sorts.

Professor Joordens could not be reached for his side of the story.
