A 32-year old man is facing charges after allegedly trying to set a Milton hair salon on fire.

It happened Saturday around 9:30 p.m.  on Main St. East. in downtown Milton.

The Halton Hills man has been charged with mischief and arson.

Halton Regional Police said the man smashed the front window of the business on Saturday evening, and tried to use an accelerant to help set the salon on fire.

“I Heard broken windows, loud noises as if people were arguing [or] complaining. All of a sudden, I heard sirens and saw flashing lights I

witnessed all emergency cruisers pulling up to the shop,” said Jermaine Bryan who is an employee next door at the Works Gourmet Burger.

The 32-year-old was unsuccessful in his attempt and the fire burned out.

The man who’s name is still unknown faces two counts of mischief under $5000 and one count of arson and will be held for a bail hearing.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
