Students at five colleges are staging a walkout to advocate for a stronger student voice on campus.
The group, Ontario Students United said they came together after an OPSEU-led strike by college faculty members kept classrooms empty for five weeks.
“We want students to know this is a long-term movement and we want everyone involved,” said OSU coordinator, Mohammed Aumeer.
“We stand in solidarity with our professors and want to work together to improve the quality of education.”

The strike continues to affect student life.
According to the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, 25,700 students across Ontario withdrew from their programs, including 2,201 from Humber College.
Remaining students are looking to be reimbursed for financial hardship suffered during the month-long strike.
Students from Centennial, George Brown, Canadore, Sheridan and Algonquin colleges will march through campuses between noon and 1:00 p.m.
Aumeer said students from the University of Guelph-Humber were set to participate but had to pull out due to academic pressures; a future march is being planned for January 2018.
