Humber hosts second Food Truck Festival

Students, staff and faculty members are once again filling their stomachs at Humber’s Food Truck Festival at the school’s North campus.

This year marks the second annual celebration where the community can explore mouth watering food options from a truck on wheels.

The event includes eight gourmet food trucks including Humber’s own truck. The other trucks are Heirloom, Gourmet Guyz, feasTO, Pappa’s Greek, Frankie Fettuccine, Born 2 Eat and Mustache Burger.

Fitness and Health Promotion graduate, Thalia Wright, says she came back to Humber specifically to try the food vendors.

“I [remember] last year I tried a churro dessert and loved it. Now, I want to try Pappa’s Greek. They have added a lot of diversity to the trucks,” Wright said.

With the success of Humber’s Food Truck, they recently introduced a Winter menu in early 2016 so that diners could enjoy great food during the cold.

This year is a little different from the last because one dollar from every sale will go towards the Humber Gives campaign, which provides scholarships to students in need. The organization encourages faculty to give back through payroll donations or on-site donations like the Festival to help with scholarships.

Director of Annual Programs, Adelia Marchese, who works with all fundraising activities at the school says it’s important to take care of students and make sure they have the resources they need

“Sometimes financials are a barrier, students are juggling jobs and trying to make ends meet. We don’t want struggles [like these] to deter them from their studies. Humber Gives campaign gives motivation and recognition to keep them going.”

Trucks are located in parking lot 7 in front of the LRC Building. Participants are using hash tag #HumberFoodTruckFest to shed light on the event.
