The first wave of Syrian refugees are nearing the one year anniversary of their arrival in Canada. This is a significant milestone, but for most it brings the reality of losing one key benefactor.

Syrian refugees will soon lose government cheques.

In little over a month, first wave refugees will be forced to live off their own income. However, these cheques are most— if not all— of the income most refugees receive.

The realities of starting anew might come too soon as the countdown begins.
