Humber cancels evening classes as storm nears GTA

Humber College cancelled all evening classes on Tuesday as the GTA braced for a winter storm.

The college announced the closure affecting its North, Lakeshore and Orangeville campuses in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

“All our campuses, services and @guelphhumber will close at 6 p.m. today. All evening, con ed & online classes are cancelled,” the tweet said.

Environment Canada was calling for a combination of snow and wind with the following forecast:

“Periods of light snow changing to snow at times heavy and blowing snow this evening. Amount 15 to 25 cm. Wind northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming north 50 gusting to 70 this evening. Low minus 8.

A decision on Humber and Guelph-Humber classes and operations for Wednesday, March 2 will be posted on humber.ca and Humber’s Facebook and Twitter pages by 6 a.m.
