How your everyday Humber hero can get recognized

Humber’s annual Student Appreciation Awards are seeking nominations for the heroes in your life at Humber.

The award show allows students and staff to show their appreciation to those who make a difference at Humber. Students can nominate other students and faculty who continue to positively impact their life at Humber College and Guelph-Humber, said Maggie Hobbs, Director of Student Events.

“This year’s theme, Heroes of Humber, unmasks these remarkable people who show leadership and commitment to improving campus life,” said Hobbs.

Project coordinator, Vanessa Silaphet, told Humber News that last year’s event was a huge success, and organizers predict the same for this year.

“We’re expecting a really great turn out with nominations this year but we won’t find out exact numbers until Monday,” said event chair Sanda Fisher, pointing out that March 28 is the deadline for nominations.

 

Full-time and part-time student staff or faculty of Humber are invited to submit nominate a written nomination for student or Humber faculty member. They are also encouraged to get creative by submitting a video nomination.

Benefits for nominated students include adding the award onto their resume is an achievement that can benefit the winners in the long run.

Marketing and promotions, Alex Boyd told Humber News the event team will conduct a final onsite promotion Thursday and will hand out popcorn with the information on the student awards.

The Student Appreciation Awards winners will be announced on April 11.
