Attention all foodies, the culinary festival Winterlicious 2016 starts today!
This annual event is making its way throughout the streets of Toronto until February 11, offering three-course menus at set prices that range from 18 to 28 dollars for the lunch menu and 25 to 45 dollars for the dinner menu. The festival has more than 200 participating restaurants across the city.
Eirene Papaioannou, the city’s event support supervisor, said this is the opportunity for people to go out in the middle of winter and try new things in order to experience the diverse cuisine and restaurant industry we have here in Toronto.
“Either experience a new cuisine they’ve never tried before or find a hidden gem in a neighbourhood that they are normally not in. So it is just a perfect time between the holiday season and Valentine’s day where everybody is looking to do something in the winter and food always bring people together,” said Papaioannou.
And Papaioannou isn’t the only one who feels this.
Jeff Lee, who is a server at featured restaurant Arisu that has made multiple appearances in Winterlicious, said he has been to multiple restaurants he wouldn’t normally try because of Winterlicious.
“It gives variety. It gives more options to enjoy Toronto life. It is nice to try something new, see course menus from different cuisines at an affordable price. If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t try it,” said Lee.
Arisu is only one of the many restaurants participating. While the set prices are great deals, some are more affordable than others.
