Sesame Street celebrates 46th birthday

Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch are celebrating their 46th birthday’s Tuesday along with the rest of the residents on Sesame Street.

The TV show began in 1969 in the United States, and since its debut on PBS it has been an educational stepping stone for children all around the world.

The show started off with a small yet lovable cast, and has since grown to house some of the most educational characters on children’s television.

Over the years, its creators have not steered clear of controversial topics that might be a challenge for parents to address with their children.

Often, the issues are explained with muppets. What could be better?

After three generations and four decades on television, Sesame Street has become one of the most iconic and well respected kids’ educational shows of all time.
