Paris climate talks prompts global social media conversation

The social media campaign Earth to Paris has been set up as a public platform for politicians, business leaders, and activists to voice their concerns and share their insights on the threat of climate change ahead of the COP 21 Paris Climate Change Conference.

 

 

Climate change is a global, ecosystem-wide phenomenon. It takes a toll on many of the world’s resources and there is no one common factor. To mitigate climate change a comprehensive approach that encompasses all elements is required, said the United Nations Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action.

Carbon emissions are an important part of the global warming process, says the Intercontinental Panel on Climate Change’s 2014 synthesis report. Industrialization and development generally require some level of these emissions, as World Bank development data shows. Below is an illustration of how different countries, including Canada compare in terms of how big their carbon emissions are.
