Public Relations and Account Manager for Evangeline PR Taylor Ferri said the World MasterCard Fashion Week is a great platform for new Canadian designers to showcase their work.

“The (clothing) pieces are not translating into sales, but it’s important for new designers to gain publicity through social media handles,” said Ferri.

This year’s fashion event is gaining worldwide recognition on Twitter and celebrities have been in attendance since Monday.

Famous songwriter and singer Solange Knowles attended the Joe Fresh Fashion Week party last night in Toronto.

Although some events are invitation only, a limited number of tickets are available here for public shows.

BlogTO also features a “How to Do Fashion Week Without an Invite” on their page, featuring cocktail lounges where fashion proteges might be having a drink after the shows, and other fashion events open to the public.
