Toronto outdoor skating rinks extend operations into March

Skating enthusiasts can stay on the ice longer with operation extended  at 11 additional outdoor skating rinks in Toronto, until the end of March Break.

Canadian Tire and Scotiabank announced Thursday they will put up the $250,000 needed to keep these additional rinks open after February 23. Earlier this week Council questioned the standard closing date, due to unseasonably cold weather.

While the rinks are scheduled to stay open weather permitting, Environment Canada’s forecast for the GTA calls for daytime highs below the freezing point for the next week, and continued snowfall for the following week.
