Let the games begin.

The Humber Fitness and Health Promotions program invited staff and students to participate in its fifth annual Fitness Olympics held at the North Campus gymnasium.

The event was hosted entirely by students. The competition was designed to help promote physical activity among the students and staff.

Students attending the event could participate in different activities that included a planking race and a karate inspired obstacle course.

Arron Bryan, a second year Fitness and Health Promotion student and one of the main organizers of the today’s event, said the event was a great learning experience for him and the students in his program.

“Every year we do this event, this is the fifth annual, it’s put together all by the students,” said Bryan.

Bryan said there are many prizes for the students to win at the event, and it’s a time for students to enjoy themselves.

The Olympics were free for students to attend, but they were asked to bring a canned food donation for the the Humber Students’ Federation food bank.

“The Humber Students’ Federation throughly appreciates the support of the community towards our food bank, because it directly helps Humber students,” said Kimberly Daniels, services coordinator for the Humber Students Federation.

“We just want students to have fun, participate and be physical,” said Bryan.

“So far it’s a really good success. We have really pulled together a fantastic event. All the students you see around put a lot of thought into each individual section and I am very proud of them.”
