On November 2, members of Humber News teamed with Humber’s Broadcast Television and Videography program to broadcast a live television special from the Diwali celebrations in the Gerrard India Bazaar.
The special, a 20-minute show covering all aspects of the celebration, had the two programs join together to teach viewers about the celebrations, which are some of Toronto’s most vibrant.
Diwali, a five day festival, is the one of the most important holidays in the Hindu calendar.
An official holiday in many countries, including India, Nepal, and Trinidad and Tobago, the celebrations in Toronto brings the sights, sounds, and tastes to the city’s Hindu and Sikh residents.
Hosts Kara Matthews and Kerrisa Wilson were there to guide viewers through the day.
