Toronto artist Allyson Mitchell has masterminded a new attraction this Halloween – a lesbian feminist haunted house.
Killjoy’s Castle, in a back alley just off the busy intersection at Lansdowne and College, is an installation and performance artwork rooted in queer and feminist theory. Many of the performers and contributors are academics – a debriefing at the end of the exhibit helps visitors understand what they’ve experienced.
The project is a partnership with the Art Gallery of York University, with funding from the Toronto Arts Council, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
