A 25-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot in the head in Rexdale around 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Kim McKinnon, of Toronto Emergency Medical Services told Humber News, paramedics found the man at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and the East Mall.  He was “stabilized and transported to a local hospital,” where he is in currently in “traumatic condition.”

Const. Sarah Diamond told Humber News the incident “is still under investigation by the police”.

Students told Humber News that even though the shooting was close to Humber’s North Campus, they still feel safe.

News outlets reported that the victim was found in the parking lot of an apartment building at Willowridge Road, and was inside a Honda Civic when he was shot. News reports also said the victim’s girlfriend called 911 to report the situation and was present when police arrived.

The management of Willowridge Towers declined to comment.
