Senator Patrick Brazeau was kicked out of the Conservative caucus after he was arrested in a domestic abuse case, CTV reported Thursday.
Brazeau remains a senator but was released from his duty in the caucus Thursday by Senator Marjory LeBreton, Canadian Press reported.
CTV reported the firing comes after a long list of “controversial revelations” about Brazeau.
CTV reported on Wednesday that Brazeau used his former father-in-law’s address to claim an aboriginal income tax exemption between the years of 2004 and 2008.
Brazeau was told to pay $800 a month in child payments, which included $4,000 in arrears, which is money still owed which should have been paid earlier, CTV reported.
Brazeau told CTV in an email that he was, “fully up to date with payments I have been ordered to pay.”
Most recently, CTV reported Brazeau had claimed his father’s residence in Quebec as his place of primary residence to ensure he would be able to claim a taxpayer subsidized housing allowance, even though, CTV reported, he rents a house much closer to Parliament Hill.
Brazeau was brought to public attention last year for his celebrity boxing match against federal Liberal leadership candidate Justin Trudeau. Brazeau was defeated.
