Black Creek Pioneer Village will be the name of the future subway station at Steeles Avenue West and Jane Street, according to a TTC report.
“The decision was made by the commission yesterday,” Brad Ross, TTC spokesman, told Humber News about renaming the former Steeles Avenue West station.
According to the Toronto Star, a little over 60 per cent of the 3,650 people who voted in a public consultation conducted online last year liked the name of Steeles West for the new station. But Black Creek Pioneer Village was not an option offered when the survey was conducted.
Ross said Black Creek Pioneer Village was the TTC Commission’s choice.
Ross said Downsview station will be re-named Sheppard West.
According to 680 News , this change will help avoid confusion with Downsview Park, the first new stop on the Spadina subway extension.
The Spadina subway expansion is expected to be completed in 2015-16, will include these stations: Finch West, York University, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Highway 407 and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
