Toronto rapper charged with first-degree murder

A Toronto rapper appeared in court Friday to face charges in connection with the murder of Toronto man two years ago.

Jermaine Dunkley, better known as rapper J. Noble, and two other men were arrested Thursday for the Nov. 24, 2013.

The trio are accused of being involved with the shooting of Neeko Mitchell, 25, in front of North Kipling Community Centre.

Toronto Police Const. Victor Kwong said Dunkley was charged with first-degree murder, participation in the activities of a criminal organization and instructing commission of an offense for a criminal organization.

The 30-year-old Dunkley from Mississauga is a lesser known rap artist who has published songs as J. Noble that are available on YouTube.

According to his Facebook page, he also has three music videos available on Vevo, a video hosting service.

Mitchell died in hospital shortly after Toronto Police responded to a call about a shooting at 2 Rowntree Rd.

Police found the victim suffering from obvious injuries and was taken to the hospital by ambulance, Kwong said.

Sheldon Tingle, 34, of Brampton, is also charged with first-degree murder and participation of the activities of a criminal organization.

Reshane Hayles-Wilson, 25, also from Mississauga, is charged with participation in the activities of a criminal organization, Kwong said.
