Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said David Livingston – the man at the centre of the gas plant scandal – never worked in her office.

On Thursday, it was revealed that the OPP’s criminal investigation into the scandal alleged that Livingston, the chief of staff to premier Dalton McGuinty, hired another Liberal staffer’s boyfriend to wipe clean the hard drives of computers containing information related to the cancellations of gas plants in Ontario.

The Progressive Conservatives took the Liberal government and specifically Wynne to task over the apparent coverup.

“We now know that the coverup and criminal destruction of documents and emails took place in Kathleen Wynne’s office under her watch as premier,” said Tory leader Tim Hudak on Thursday.

Wynne fired back on Sunday. In an open letter, Wynne threatened legal action against Hudak for his “false, misleading and defamatory accusations” against her.

The Tories responded today, claiming that the threat of legal action was an attempt to quiet the opposition.

“I won’t be muzzled, nor will my leader,” said Progressive Conservative energy critic Lisa McLeod.
