It’s been a busy off-season for Major League Soccer, and Toronto FC hasn’t
refrained from making some noise.

TFC rocked the soccer world by announcing it added two major pieces to their puzzle.

LISTEN: Jermain Defoe on coming to Toronto

English striker, Jermain Defoe, 31, is the biggest name of the two.

Defoe spent 11 seasons with Tottenham Hotspurs of the Barclay’s Premier League. Over that time he scored 143 goals. Some of his career highlights include scoring three hat tricks in a single season and scoring five goals in one game.

Rudi Schuller, Chief Editor at Goal.com Canada, said TFC could become a possible playoff contender thanks to their new addition’s goal scoring ability.

The other acquisition is midfielder, Michael Bradley.

Bradley, 26, is just approaching his prime. Born in Princeton, N.J., Bradley chose a destination closer to home.

Bradley may not put up huge goal numbers, but the American midfielder plays a very defensive game and will contribute with many tackles and takeaways. Bradley is also a strong contender to play for Team USA in the World Cup later this year.

With the addition of two big names, here’s what the halls of Humber are thinking these men will do for the organization and city of Toronto.

The Maple Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays have ran the sports scene in Toronto for a while, but Schuller said these moves may help TFC get back into the conversation and into the minds of Torontonians.

If these moves can benefit the interest level in TFC and bring more crowds, Schuller touches on what kinds of crowds you’ll see and what size of crowds may attend.

If Toronto can bring in a winning team, which every sports fan loves to watch, the question remains as to whether the crowds return to BMO Field.
