While many people are  familiar with the problems of distracted driving, a recent Japanese video campaign targets the dangers of ‘distracted walking’.

The video shows a simulation of 1,500 people using  their smartphones while crossing an intersection.

The video coincides with news that Apple on Thursday filed a patent for transparent texting technology allowing users to see where they walk while they text.

This feature is rumoured to be included in future software updates.

Until that release occurs, ‘walk and text’ apps are available in the App Store, and they may be beneficial to Humber students.
