Blank Canvas Gallery re-opens Arts & Entertainment,Lifestyle

The Blank Canvas Gallery re-opened its doors to the public last night after being forced to close them on New Year’s Eve of last year. After a scuffle with Toronto Police on New Year’s Eve, the Blank Canvas’ first location at 1544 Bloor West, the gallery was forced to shut down and turned to the community in helping them relocate and re-open. Humber reporter Aron Anthonymuttu was on scene Thursday night for the debut night of Blank Canvas’s new location at 890 St. Clair Avenue West in Toronto.

Art Hut closing but Queen St. West will survive Arts & Entertainment,News

The Gladstone Hotel’s Art Hut project will be coming to an end this April, and will soon become the home to another condo.

The six-month pop-up initiative looked to “animate the currently empty property” directly across from the hotel at Queen Street West and Gladstone.

“It’s been fantastic,” said Christina Zeidler, the president of The Gladstone Hotel. “We’ve had everything from artists using the space as residency space, or people having something that was just a pure installation and people could come and look at it.”

But come May, the art space will be replaced with a sales centre and then later on by a 16-storey condo.

Some positive and some critical but many users are saying this isn’t as new as Nike makes it out to be. Social media users take to different outlets chiming in on what the Pro Hijab actually means. Is it just a new product stepping outside of Nike’s norm of cleats and running tights, or is it the beginning of a new culture for diversity with women in sport?
