The search continues for the second man wanted in a Scarborough bank robbery investigation.

Jesse Jack Breese, 21, is still at large three days after a Toronto police news conference, where a $10,000 reward, offered in partnership with the Canadian Bankers Association (CBA), was put up for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

The second man wanted in the investigation, Nathan Hunter, 20, surrendered to police just hours after the press conference, a Toronto police news release said.

“This is why we do those types of things and have a news conference, and we hope that it leads to a quick arrest or someone surrendering, but we can’t guarantee it. We never know,” said Const. Caroline de Kloet of the Toronto Police Service.

It is alleged that in the robbery on May 24, Breese shot a gun into the floor of a TD Canada Trust bank while Hunter, 20, demanded money from the bank employees, the news release said.

To questions concerning why such a large reward is being offered for just one robbery, the especially violent nature of the crime is related, de Kloet said.

In investigations that have exhausted other leads and may be at a standstill, the Canadian Bankers Association’s assistance may help to develop new leads, said Aaron Boles, vice-president of communications at the CBA.

“The safety and security of banking employees and clients is the number one priority,” Boles said. “Working with law enforcement stakeholders, we’re confident that criminals will be brought to justice.”

Breese is also wanted by Barrie Police for an attempted murder on June 3, according to the news release.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, the release said. If seen, community members are asked to immediately call 911.
