David Mirvish revealed plans for the future of Toronto’s theatre district today, at the Art Gallery of Ontario, proposing that the Princess of Wales Theatre be demolished and replaced by three high-rise condominiums and mixed-use exhibition and retail space. Canadian-born architect Frank Gehry is on board to design the new structures, if the project receives government approvals. The Princess of Wales was built in 1993 by Mirvish’s father Ed to accommodate the run of the musical Miss Saigon.
