Toronto police have released images of a man they want to identify in connection with the death of a woman in the Church and Wellesley Street area.
Tess Richey went missing on Nov. 25, and was last seen at the intersection of Church and Wellesley.
Richey’s body was found by her mother on Nov. 29 outside a home under renovation.
According to police the cause of death was neck compression.
The area has had a string of disappearances since last spring that remain unsolved.
“There is no evidence that a serial killer is responsible for the disappearances of the missing males,” said Detective Michael Richmond of 51 division, alluding to a popular theory among residences of the area.
Locals of the area, also known as The Village in reference to its historic LGTBQ community, are still uneasy and feel the police haven’t been doing enough, according to the CBC.
Police have established a special task force into finding missing people in The Village.
According to Dailyxtra.com, this isn’t the first time a team has been established to find missing people in the area. From 2010-2012, a team was assembled to find three men in The Village.
Police are asking anyone with information that could identify the man to call 416-808-7400 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
