The suspects, members of the The Dixon Road Bloods, are apart of the same investigation of the Project Traveller in 2013.

The charges are related to the murder of Malcolm Marfo, 22, who was shot in Rexdale last month.

23 Division police have identified the accused as Saieed Hagi, 20, Sharmarke Farah, 18, Hanad Farah, 21, Ali Mohamed Isse, 21, Lioban Hussein, 20 and Mohamed Omar, 26. One suspect is still at large.

The investigation leading to this morning’s events began on March 18 with two shootings on the same day in an Islington Avenue apartment. In a press conference two days later, Homicide Det. Sgt. Mike Patterson identified the first shooting victim as Ahmed Siyad, who was shot and taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

He was also one of several people who was arrested during the Project Traveller raids last year. Later that day Marfo was shot multiple times in the same apartment. He succumbing to his wounds two days later.

Patterson said he is unsure if Marfo was targeted or not but he did describe the Islington-Dixon apartments as an “umbrella of gang activity.”

Inspector McLane said in the press conference: “The homicide squad commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these two events. The investigation also wanted to establish what, if any, role the Dixon Road Bloods and their associates played in this particular homicide.”
