Today is the perfect day to snag some cheeseburger deals around Toronto. September 18 is National Cheeseburger Day.

Burger joints like Wendy’s and Mc Donald’s are giving out free cheeseburgers to celebrate today. Even food delivery services like Uber Eats are celebrating today with offers like free delivery on burgers.

For students at Humber however, every day is cheeseburger day.

“I didn’t know today was National Cheeseburger day. I love cheeseburgers. They’re like my staple diet. The easiest to make and the best thing that could happen to mankind – my favourite is one that has all the cheese in the world,” paralegal student Toni Kaye Scott said.

For another student however, eating a cheeseburger means making a mess.

“Its too sloppy and clumsy to eat cheeseburgers or sandwiches. I prefer eating noodles or mac and cheese,” management student Roselle Pires said.

Emphasizing her views on today, she said she didn’t mind a cheeseburger as long as she got it for free.

‘If I were to make the perfect cheeseburger, mine would be a beef patty, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and lots of mayo,” she said.

Nicole Higher, a General Arts and Science student says she stays off junk food to stay fit. ‘Since the school didn’t advertise in the cafeteria or anything I didn’t know today was all about celebrating cheeseburgers. I stay off junk food, but now I feel like biting into a beef burger with lettuce and tomatoes,” she said.

Vegetarian cheeseburgers also caught the fancy of students.

Health and Fitness Management student Nidhi Raval said since she was a vegetarian there were very few places she could enjoy a cheeseburger.

“We don’t eat chicken, beef or pork and there are not many options for veggie burgers. My idea of a perfect burger would be a veggie patty with tomatoes, mayo and lots of cheese toasted to perfection,” Raval said.

“Its unconventional but that’s how I used to enjoy it back in India. We also have an Indian style burger called ‘Vada Pav’ which is basically just potato stuffing in a bun with garlic and mint sauce. That’s what I miss the most,” she said.

Humber’s Food Truck had no special celebrations planned for today.
