Kesean Williams, the nine-year-old boy who was shot dead last week in his Brampton home, will be laid to rest in Hamilton tomorrow.

The Grade 4 student at Sir Winston Churchill Public School was hit in the back of the head with a bullet on Jan. 23 and died later at Sick Kids Hospital.

Const. George Tudos from the Peel Regional Police said there aren’t any new leads in the investigation, but said police are still searching for suspects.

Tudos confirmed the three people seen in a taxi nearby Kesean’s house at the time of the murder are witnesses, not suspects, but he was unable to comment on what they said they saw.

680 News published that Peel Regional Police believe the house was targeted.

The Toronto Star reported that tenants and building officials knew the previous family that lived in Kesean’s home. The former tenants were evicted in November due to numerous calls about drug activity, the Star reported. Peel Regional Police did not confirm any drug activity but said that the residential area was “very busy.”

Carla Pereira, spokeswoman for the Peel District School Board, told Humber News last week that in the main foyer of Kesean’s school, a memorial table is set up and there’s a memory wall where students can reflect on their memories of their classmate.

“Kesean’s school won’t be doing anything at the funeral tomorrow but in the near future they will be having a memorial,” said Connie Monaco assistant to Peel District School Board’s superintendent, Hazel Mason.

Kesean’s home going service will be held tomorrow at the Peoples Church, 510 Mohawk Rd. W. in Hamilton, his hometown. His body will be buried at Bayview Cemetery, Crematory and Mausoleum, 740 Spring Garden Rd in Burlington. Family and friends will be able to view the body at Bay Gardens Funeral home, 947 Rhymal Rd. E. in Hamilton tonight from 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral home said the family wants no media at the funeral nor at the viewing.
