The emergence of the Ku Klux Klan in the late-1800s is a clear and disturbing origin story, founded only to suppress any newly freed slaves in the Southern states of America. Since then, the group has faded and regrouped a number of times, allowing for the modern KKK and the original club to easily be differentiated.
