Today is International Women’s Day and to mark the occasion, women all over the world are speaking out about equal rights.

Etana Cain, the Senior Advocacy and Communications Officer for YWCA Toronto, a charity dedicated to helping helping women and girls in the city, told Humber News that women speaking out is very important.

“At YWCA Toronto, we honour, celebrate and thank strong women who are speaking out for equality,” Cain said.

“Speaking out is so important because it helps to shape government policy, influence key decision makers and build public awareness.”

Below are some of the women who made headlines with their thoughts.
