LGBTQ+ students and their parents expressed their fears and concerns during a discussion and Q&A hosted by Humber’s LGBTQ+ Resource Centre Thursday night
The LGBTQ+ Resource Centre, The Bridge and IGNITE, screened the documentary Paris is Burning before hosting a panel discussion on issues affecting people of colour in the LGBTQ+ community.
Paris is Burning is a documentary released in 1990 that follows the lives of African-American, Latino, gay and transgender people in the drag community in New York City and what they had to deal with in a day-to-day basis.
After the screening, the audience participated in a panel discussion and Q&A with LGBTQ+ activists including Leslie Ramsay-Taylor, TravoyintheFlesh and Pirom Houth.
Humber News’ Linda Huynh and Jefferson Marshall were in attendance.
