The annual NFL Scouting Combine wraps up today in Indianapolis.
Over 300 prospects worked out at Lucas Oil Stadium, undergoing rigorous physical and psychological tests and interviews with NFL teams. All eyes were eagerly watching top-rated prospects including Jadeveon Clowney, Jake Matthews, Teddy Bridgewater, Sammy Watkins and Khalil Mack.
But as every Combine comes and goes, there are some surprising superstars that emerge from the shadows and make a name for themselves.
Here is a list of the top performers in each drill category during this year’s Combine.
40 Yard Dash:
RB Dri Archer – Kent State University
Time: 4.26 seconds
WR Brandin Cookes – Oregon State University
Time: 4.33 seconds
WR John Brown (Pittsburgh State University) and CB Phillip Gaines (Rice University) tied for third place with a time of 4.34.
Note: Archer was two-hundredths of a second short of the record set by Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson in 2008.
