On the final day of what has been a difficult election campaign, Olivia Chow was fighting until the very end. Chow was out canvassing at 7:30 a.m. on election day. She cast her vote as soon as the polls opened at 10 a.m., undoubtedly for herself.
A disappointing loss for Ford Nation tonight as Doug Ford goes down to defeat to John Tory. CBC is projecting that Tory will be Toronto’s new mayor with his vote hovering at 39 per cent compared to 36 per cent for Ford and 22 per cent for Olivia Chow.
Joe Cressy has won a massive victory in Ward 20, Trinity-Spadina, with 42 per cent of the popular vote versus 12 per cent for Terri Chu and just nine per cent for Sarah Thomson, in Toronto’s most crowded council election.
Rob Ford will be back to city hall as councillor of Ward 2 (Etobicoke North.) He was well ahead of his closest opponents with 59 per cent of the votes. Luke Larocque had 11 per cent and Andray Domise with 8 per cent. The ward had no incumbent and 13 candidates in total were vying for the seat.
