In front of a hometown crowd at the Roger’s Centre, the Argos dominated the Stampeders 35-22, to claim their 16th Grey Cup title.

Bruce Arthur of the National Post said the Stampeders had one of the worst Grey Cup performances on record.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a good team play that badly in a big game like Calgary, they fell apart in every single way,” said Arthur. “I don’t know how it went this wrong for Calgary, I just know it went really wrong.”

Arthur also said that the key to the Argonauts’ success was their options on offense.

“The Toronto Argonauts was a collection of parts that worked together, it wasn’t just one thing,” he said.

According to Sean Fitz-Gerald of the National Post the victory represents a chance for the Argonauts to grab a chunk of Toronto sports fans.

“They’ve seized a fairly empty seat in the post-apocalyptic sporting landscape in Toronto,” said Fitz-Gerald.

The Argos winning the milestone 100th Grey Cup capped off a season that was anything but ordinary, with six CFL records broken, and the end of an 84-year-era at Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium, which closed this year.

On top of becoming a Grey Cup champion, Argos kick returner Chad Owens broke the CFL record for the most combined yards in a season, passing Michael “Pinball” Clemons with 3,683 yards.

Clemons told Yahoo News that he couldn’t be happier for Owens.

“I didn’t lose a record, I gained a role model,” Clemons said.

Five other CFL records were also broken this year including; all-time career reception yards, most kick return touchdowns, yards from scrimmage by a Canadian, most rushing yards in a season and most tackles in a season.
