Alleged serial killer Bruce McArthur has been charged with another count of first degree murder bringing the total number of  victims to six at a press conference.

The remains of Skandaraj “Skanda” Navaratnam, 40, were found in a planter on one of McArthur’s properties , according to Toronto police.

Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga said police have worked on identifying the remains found at a home on Mallory Cres. and Thorncliffe Dr. where McArthur did landscaping work.

The excavations at multiple properties where McArthur worked led police to believe there are more bodies they are unaware of, according to Det. Sgt. Idsinga.

“We’ve been through all of the planters we have seized. We haven’t found any other remains. That’s not to say we’re done with the examination at Mallory,” said Det. Sgt. Idsinga.

However, Idsinga confirmed they have other properties they expect to examine.

Toronto police, with the help of other regions, are currently backtracking McArthur’s life as far back as needed.

“We are tracing his whereabouts as far back as we can go essentially, and seeing if we can link outstanding occurences to his movements and see where we go from there,” said Det. Sgt. Idsinga.

McArthur was arrested and charged on Jan. 18 for the alleged murders of missing persons Andrew Kinsmen, Selim Esen, Majeed Kayham, Soroush Mahmudi, and Dean Lisowick.
